Let's face it, dynasty is tough. Owners in leagues of all sizes and scoring systems are always looking for an edge over their competition. The goal of this article is to highlight a trio of linebackers, defensive linemen, and defensive backs that can either help you right away or represent good grab-and-stash adds. These players were found in at least one of my many leagues (some 12-team, some 14-team, some 16-team), representing a variety of scoring (standard, big play, etc.). I try to not be too reactive to big scoring occurring in the prior week, but sometimes those outbursts can't be ignored. Hopefully, these players represent good value for your dynasty teams moving forward!
Linebackers
Terez Hall (NEP): We've mentioned Hall here before but after his 12-solo outburst on Sunday he bears a repeat appearance. As with any Patriot defender, there's some risk in starting with confidence, but Hall has proved that he can rack up tackles. If Hall remains a starter in 2021, he would be a high-floor but low-ceiling type of fantasy producer. Certainly worth a grab-and-stash as we close up the season.
Tyus Bowser (BAL): Bowser comes with risk since he doesn't produce from a tackling standpoint, but the upside is there based on his ability to fill up other parts of the box score. He will continue to share snaps with a host of other talented edge rushers, but those in big-play formats should keep their eye on Bowser. If he somehow starts getting 3-4 solos a game, he's an add for sure.
Damien Wilson (KCC): Both Willie Gay Jr and Anthony Hitchens have been pretty unimpressive in 2020 so we will add Wilson's name here as one to watch going into 2021. If Hitchens' play is unimpressive and Gay doesn't develop as the Chiefs hope, Wilson could be a cheap LB4-type in larger leagues in 2021.
Defensive Linemen
Doug Costin (DT - JAC): Once Davon Hamilton, who we also really like here, went out with an injury, Costin's upped his game. The stats aren't eye-popping by any means, but there is little talent on the interior of the Jaguar line, so if you're in a league that starts DT independent of DE, Costin's one to watch for 2021.
Kingsley Keke (DE - GBP): Keke remains a matchup-dependent producer that you should continue to watch for the remainder of this season and see what his snap counts will be moving into 2021. The Smiths provide ample pass rush from a linebacker level, but Keke could be what the Packers need in conjunction with their play.
John Penisini (DT - DET): Another deep grab here, but we like the fact that he's been a regular as a rookie. Plenty of opportunities for tackles on the interior of the Lion line moving forward, so if you're in a DT-start league, keep your eyes on this guy as he may be a cheap source of tackles moving forward.
Defensive Backs
Darnell Savage (S - GBP): Adrian Amos has been the constant producer for the Packer safeties, but Savage oozes with talent, and it's evident after his last two outings. There's a reason he was a first-round pick, and still just 23. A solid add-and-stash for the future.
LJarius Sneed (CB - KCC): Sneed has shown the ability to tackle with volume (7 solos vs. Dolphins) and fill up the box score in other categories too (3 passes defended, a pick, and a sack vs. Saints). Sneed is talented and fits nicely in the Chiefs' scheme.
Bryce Hall (CB - NYJ): Hall has stepped in as a rookie and has looked pretty good for this struggling Jets team. He's on track to have a starting spot in 2021 and could be a super-cheap option in CB-start leagues.
