Caleb Williams

A strong offensive mind introduced at head coach, more talent at the receiving position and the Bears finally have their franchise quarterback. Caleb Williams showed us enough in his first season to indicate a strong training camp sees him catapulted in among the elite fantasy quarterbacks. 

No more excuses for Caleb Williams. He failed to meet expectations with a strong supporting cast last year. This year, the cast is just as strong, if not stronger. Plus, he has Ben Johnson calling the offense. Can Williams produce? If it doesn't happen this year, it might not happen. 

Wiliams had a horrific rookie experience. His first offensive coordinator was so vague in this scheme that there were many plays with no set drops for the quarterback. Drops and route depths are tied together. With D.J. Moore playing split-end rather than his best position of flanker, Williams and Moore were not remotely on the same accord in the offense. 

That's just one mess. The scheme featured deeper drops despite the offensive line lacking the talent to stave off pressure for that long.

The Bears didn't even add a veteran quarterback with long-term starter experience as a player-coach in the room, which most good organizations do. This was malpractice. 

Williams went from a low-end QB2 for two-thirds of the season to a top-five fantasy QB for the final slate of games where interim offensive coordinator, Thomas Brown, performed triage on the most glaring problems. 

With Ben Johnson in the fold, expect fantasy starter production with an elite ceiling. 

Williams put out some of the best individual statistical performances by a rookie, but had far too many floor games given expectations. With coach Ben Johnson's arrival and talent surrounding him, he is positioned to deliver on sky-high expectations. 

Underratted rushing upside. His 479 rush yards were the seventh most at QB last year. Receives a massive coaching upgrade in Ben Johnson, and his offense is loaded with talented weapons.

There might be some guesswork when it comes to the skill players in Chicago. There shouldn’t be much guesswork when it comes to the value of Caleb Williams with those weapons, an improved offensive line, and Ben Johnson. I expect a leap.
