Scouting Report

Sawyer Robertson has NFL bloodlines and plenty of college experience. His dad was drafted into the MLB after playing football at Texas Tech, and his cousin is Jarrett Stidham, who has a very similar play style. He committed to Mississippi State as a four-star recruit, redshirted a season, and was the backup for a season. He entered the transfer portal after Mike Leach's passing. He transferred to Baylor and appeared in six games in 2023 after the starting quarterback was injured. 2024 was his first year as a full-time starter after three games as the backup, and he kept the job for two seasons.

Robertson showed mental growth every year as a starter, but he still has lingering questions about his arm strength and fundamentals. He stands flat-footed in the pocket, and his base is moved too easily while making routine throws. He got away with it at Baylor, but his throws tend to float in the air on quick outs or shallow crossers, and NFL defenders will pounce on them. He was a risk-taker in 2023, but grew to keep the ball out of harm's way the next two seasons. That also meant he wasn't trying to paint the corners of the strike box anymore, and he threw with less anticipation and didn't test tight windows.

Rundown

Robertson is a backup-level prospect who keeps the ball out of trouble and can hold down the fort until the starter returns.
