Staff Confidence Pool (No Spread) Week 15

We are proud to bring you the return of the Footballguys.com Staff Confidence Pool Challenge. 22 Staff members will pick the winner of each NFL game, and rank each choice from most confident (16 points) to least (1 point). As a tie-breaker, the person who is closest to the total points scored on the last Monday Night game will be the winner. Winners will be announced from week to week and the best overall record will be crowned Confidence pool Champion. Picks and ranks are due on Wednesday, so any late-breaking news may not be reflected in the choices. Also please note that no point spread is taken into account with these picks – it is a straight up pick of which NFL team will win this week. See the other confidence pools for picks against the spread (ATS) or Survivor / Eliminator style.

WEEK 14 RESULTS

jason Wood stormed back to the top of the leaderboard this week with an impressive 115 point performance. Wood only missed four games last week, and three of them were at five confidence points or less. John Lee missed five games, but finished a full 10 points behind Wood. Justin Howe finished 3rd, but would have taken the top spot this week if Miami would have won the Monday night contest.

Oakland was the big upset of the week, taking down 241 confidence points when the beat Denver on the road. He Bengals, Bucs and Bears all were strongly favored to win this week as well, and their combined losses cost the field almost 400 more confidence points. 

OVERALL RANKINGS

Justin Howe's strong week pushed him up into 3rd place, but he's still over 20 points behind Larkin for second. Larkin and Miglio finished pretty close to each other and moved another week closer to their showdown for the top spot. With three weeks to go, it's extremely unlikely that anyone else will take the overal spot.

HEAVY FAVORITES

New England, Jacksonville, Kansas City and Seattle were unaminous selections by he entire board this week. The Jets, Vikings, Pittsburgh, Cincinati, Arizona and New Orleans are also heavy favorites. 

DUAL SUPPORT

Miami and San Diego is the toughest game to call this week with the Dolphins having a slight edge 51-30. Tampa is the favorite tonight by a 2 to 1 margin, but the game itself has only 132 confidence points on it total. Buffalo over Washington is another close game, with the Bills being a slight favorite. 

ODDS AND ENDS

Three weeks to go and if you're in the hunt for the overall leader spot, you need to really focus on the tougher games and see if you can pick a few that the other contenders are not. If you're in the overall lead, depending on how far you are out in front, it's time to get more conservative with your picks. In our staff contet here, the only way that one of the top 3 guys will fall out of contention is if the start doing crazy things like putting 16 points on the Titans and hoping for an upset. If the Titans do pull off the win, everyone is going to lose points, so it's better for the leaders to back the trend. Stay strong now - it's down to the wire.
