Staff Confidence Pool (No Spread) Week 13

We are proud to bring you the return of the Footballguys.com Staff Confidence Pool Challenge. 22 Staff members will pick the winner of each NFL game, and rank each choice from most confident (16 points) to least (1 point). As a tie-breaker, the person who is closest to the total points scored on the last Monday Night game will be the winner. Winners will be announced from week to week and the best overall record will be crowned Confidence pool Champion. Picks and ranks are due on Wednesday, so any late-breaking news may not be reflected in the choices. Also please note that no point spread is taken into account with these picks – it is a straight up pick of which NFL team will win this week. See the other confidence pools for picks against the spread (ATS) or Survivor / Eliminator style.

WEEK 11 RESULTS

HE'S ON FIRE! Ok, NBA JAM video game reference, but it's really appropriate here. Alex Miglio was this week's top scoring staffer, his third win in for weeks. Miglio hit 12 out of 16 correct picks this week, and  finished 7 points ahead of Andy Hicks in the #2 spot. Miglio lost big on the Green Bay upset on Thanksgiving, but his other three losses were for six confidence points or less. Nice Job Alex!

Green Bay was the biggest hit to the board - as everyone picked them to beat Chicago on Thanksgiving day, and the field lost almost 300 confidence points when Chicago pulled out the upset. Jacksonville and New England were also bigger upsets, which cost the board 365 confidence points. 

OVERALL RANKINGS

Miglio's hot streak has him streaking to the top of the overall leaderboard this week too. He moved into first place, just three points ahead of Dave Larkin. The two of them are slowly pulling away from the rest of the field - and they are almost 30 points ahead of Danny Tuccitto who slips to 3rd place with just 73 points this week.

HEAVY FAVORITES

The Bengals, Patriots and Broncos were all unaminous selections this week by the entire staff. Those three teams received a combined 865 confidence points from the field.  Chicago, Carolina, Pittsburgh and Washington were also heavy favorites this week. They had a combined 809 confdence points. 

DUAL SUPPORT

Jacksonville at Tennessee was the least-confident match-up this week, with just 102 confidence points on the game and Jacksonville receiving a slight edge 55 to 47. Houston at Buffalo was just behind them with 103 confidence points with Buffalo as a narrow favorite. Kansas City is a slight favorite on the road to beat Oakland in another close one with just 110 total confidence points and despite the PK Vegas line on the Seattle - Minnesota contest, the Seahawks are a 2-1 favorite receiving 90 confidence points agaist the 43 that Minnesota has. It's also worth noting that although the Jets are a big favorite to beat the Giants this week, the game only had 132 confidence points total. You might want to move that game down a peg or two on your board. 

ODDS AND ENDS

IDepending on your scoring systems, it's time to start looking at going against the trend a little if you are not near the top of your leaderboard. Being on the right side of a close game like Jacksonville - Tennessee this week can give you a couple more points over the folks that will follow the Las Vegas line. There's still time to catch the leaders but time is running out.
