Staff Confidence Pool (No Spread) Week 10

We are proud to bring you the return of the Footballguys.com Staff Confidence Pool Challenge. 22 Staff members will pick the winner of each NFL game, and rank each choice from most confident (16 points) to least (1 point). As a tie-breaker, the person who is closest to the total points scored on the last Monday Night game will be the winner. Winners will be announced from week to week and the best overall record will be crowned Confidence pool Champion. Picks and ranks are due on Wednesday, so any late-breaking news may not be reflected in the choices. Also please note that no point spread is taken into account with these picks – it is a straight up pick of which NFL team will win this week. See the other confidence pools for picks against the spread (ATS) or Survivor / Eliminator style.

WEEK 9 RESULTS

This week, with six NFL teams on a bye, the best possible score was only 91 points. So a couple mistakes can really depress the standings. Alex Miglio found himself at the top of this week's board with just 63 confidence points. Of the 13 possible contests this week, Alex got 8 correct, and only lost minimal points on his rough Sunday and Monday NIght. Larkin finished second, and he also had 8 correct picks. Hasley finished 3rd with 9 correct picks, but he lost a lot of confidence points backing Atlanta, Denver and New Orleans. Overall, it was a pretty rough week for everyone.

Everyone on the board missed New Orleans, Atlanta and Denver this week. These were 3 of the top 5 most confident games which really goes to show you just how hard this is. After 8 games, you might expect that if all 22 staffers pick a team to win, they have a pretty strong chance of doing it. Not last week... 

OVERALL RANKINGS

Tuccitto and Bitonti both finished in the mid 50's this week, giving Larkin a chance to climb back into contention with his 60 point point performance. Howe took a big tumble from second place all the way down to 6th with his 41 point performance. The top 3 teams are separated by less than 10 points. It's anybody's game at this point.

HEAVY FAVORITES

Pittsburgh, Carolina, Green Bay, Denver and Cinci were all unaminous selections by the boad this week. New England was also a strong selection this week, although one staffer did pick the Giants to upset them. The Jets tonight and Philadelphia on Sunday are also heavily backed favorites this week. 

DUAL SUPPORT

Dallas against Tampa Bay was the toughest game to call this week. With only 62 total confidence points on the contest, it's clear that neither of the teams is strongly backed. Arizona at Seattle also looks to be a tough call this week, with the Seahawks having a slight edge in confidence points for playing at home. 

ODDS AND ENDS

We are back to only four teams on a bye this week, moving the maximum total back to 105 points. Next week will be the last of the NFL bye weeks, and then it will be a sprint to the finish.
