The Fantasy Football Impact for Tyler Warren, Indianapolis Colts

The Colts' biggest need was at tight end. They have gradually built a solid foundation of pass catchers for their offense. But it isn't easy to trust the quarterback to distribute the ball effectively to Warren and his teammates. Fortunately, Warren is willing to block, which means he will be on the field frequently. He is a versatile player who can contribute to multiple aspects of the offense. This flexibility relieves pressure on the offense and allows for unpredictable playcalling.

The Fantasy Football Fallout

Tyler Warren will immediately help his teammates with his versatility on the field. He brings the toughness a tight end needs. Having a sturdy frame will also help keep him on the field. He's slippery and nimble enough to make defenders miss with the ball in his hands. The big question mark is who will be getting him the ball, and whether they will be able to do it consistently.

Jonathan Taylor will welcome a player like Warren. This addition only helps Taylor, and Warren will bring some nastiness to the run game. Josh Downs still will remain relevant for fantasy football, as a player like Warren will only help open plays up for.

Michael Pittman Jr is affected negatively. Warren will take targets from Pittman, and he needs multiple targets to stay in the mix for fantasy. They'll both work on intermediate routes across the middle of the field. Last season, the Colts ranked 26th in pass attempts.

Alec Pierce averaged four targets per game last season. At best, his involvement in the offense has topped out. It's more likely that there won't be enough passing attempts for Pierce to match is 2024 production.

Tyler Warren is also an unfortunate faller. There are not enough targets to go around. Both quarterbacks are too hard to trust. The Colts will likely be one of the run-heaviest teams in the NFL. Anthony Richard and Daniel Jones were both among the league's worst in completing passes last season. This isn't the best landing spot for Warren.

Overview

I like Tyler Warren as a player. However, he's a player I'm passing on in redraft leagues unless he's my TE2. In dynasty, I'll be taking a shot on him because it seems that the Colts, with all this weaponry, will soon get someone to get the ball to them, especially if their current quarterback situation doesn't improve.
