As we race toward August, Footballguys.com will examine one team per weekday with our quick-hitting Team Sleepers feature. These players might not be deep sleepers, but we will be highlighting players our staff thinks will surprise this year and outperform their average draft position (ADP).

Reasons RB Will Shipley Could Be a Sleeper

  • Jason Wood: Shipley is RB63, which makes him one of the least expensive handcuffs this year. Yet, his draft pedigree and limited performance to date suggest that he would be a weekly starter if Saquon Barkley were to get hurt.
  • Maurile Tremblay: Now the clear backup and dirt-cheap in drafts, he's one Barkley breather or injury from inheriting high-value touches.
  • Jeff Blaylock: The Eagles' offseason moves reflect confidence in Shipley as their RB2 this season. He's just an injury away from taking on a significant role behind the best offensive line in the league.
  • David Zacharias: Expect Shipley to deliver better than RB6 numbers as Barkley's touches get managed.
  • Zareh Kantzabedian: Will Shipley is a dynamic running back, but he was needed little last year with the way Saquon Barkley performed. Shipley likely won't have standalone value in 2025, but he should still be drafted as a priority handcuff.
  • Julia Papworth: The only real potential value here is backup running back Will Shipley, who drafters have seemed to forget about. A.J. Dillon shouldn't play much of a factor, so I consider Shipley the handcuff to Saquon Barkley, who will get tons of play this season.
  • Andy Hicks: Saquon Barkley had a monster workload last year and year plus one for these guys is often disappointing. Shipley is the clear number two and potentially very valuable.
