One of the best and most comprehensive features we offer every year is our Footballguys Preseason Updates. Every week this month, Bob Henry, Jason Wood, Clayton Gray, and their team of Footballguys Staffers cover every player that matters from every NFL team. It's 32-plus pages of some of the most comprehensive coverage you'll find. It's probably worth the Footballguys Premium Subscription by itself.

Updates from Week 4

Preseason Updates: Quarterbacks

Jordan Love has nothing to prove as the face of the franchise, and it's likely his preseason would've been over even if he hadn't had thumb surgery. Love's procedure was to his non-throwing hand, and it took place weeks before Opening Day. He returned to limited snaps to close out training camp, and there's no apparent concern about how he'll open the year. "It feels fine… I think if it was my right hand, it'd be a totally different story," Love told media last week. "We'll be good. We're rolling Week 1, for sure." In his place, clear No. 2 Malik Willis shined on a 96-yard touchdown drive that chewed up half the first quarter. Never known for a ball-control style, Willis deftly converted a fourth down and a pair of third downs to set up a red-zone scoring pass to Romeo Doubs.

Preseason Updates: Running Backs

Josh Jacobs, locked into the bellcow role after an outstanding 2024, took just a single carry in the final tune-up game. Behind him, Emanuel Wilson may have fallen into a timeshare in the No. 2 role with an uneven preseason. Wilson had an error-plagued game against the Colts two weeks ago, fumbling and missing a key pass block, then turned 8 rushes into 38 yards in the preseason finale. He's now rotating with Chris Brooks, a special-teamer who's impressed with his versatility. As much as the fantasy world would love to see the athletic, big-bodied MarShawn Lloyd seize the role, there's little reason to believe his body will hold up. For what it's worth, the entire Packers Wire crew figures Lloyd will either slip off the roster or be stashed on IR.
