2025 NFL Combine Basics

Top executives, coaching staff, player personnel departments, and medical personnel from all 32 NFL teams will evaluate the nation’s top college football players eligible for the upcoming NFL Draft. According to the NFL Combine, "This intense, four-day job interview is an exciting time for the athletes and a vital step in achieving their dreams of playing in the NFL."

2025 NFL Combine Definitions

• Bench Press - Players see how many reps they can do with 225 pounds.
  
  
• Gen. Med. Exam. - Similar to when regular people visit the doctor, prospects are given a wide internal medical examination. Think of things like EKGs, blood work, and cardiovascular stress tests.
  
  
• Kicking Workout - This is exactly what it sounds like: Kickers doing kickoffs, field goals, and punts.
  
  
• Measurements - Measurements include height, weight, hand size, arm length, and wing span.
  
  
• Media Interviews - Designated sitdowns players will have with the media.
  
  
• On-Field Workouts - What people generally think of when the combine is mentioned: 40-yard dash, cone drill, positional drills, etc.
  
  
• Ortho Exam - A detailed look at a player's joints, bones, and muscle structure.
  
  
• Team Interviews - These are one-on-one interviews a team will have with a player. They are 15 minutes long, and a player can interview a maximum of 60 players at the NFL Combine.
