Fantasy Football Impact

If you select Jaxson Dart in rookie drafts, you probably can't depend on him for production in 2025. The first-round capital is fantastic, especially considering that Sanders, another highly ranked quarterback prospect in this class, did not go in Round 1. Still, the Giants already have Russell Wilson and Jameis Winston, which puts Dart in a situation where he will likely sit on the bench and develop under Brian Daboll. He is intriguing, but a raw prospect. It's good that he won't be thrown to the wolves in Week 1.

When he eventually starts, he could be an impactful fantasy football asset. The Giants have Malik Nabers, Wan'Dale Robinson, Theo Johnson, and potentially more weapons coming through the NFL Draft. And Dart is an excellent runner. He’s got a strong 6-2, 215-pound build, and has the speed to get to the sideline and make big things happen on the ground. He put up 495 rushing yards in his last college season, so when he starts, he could be usable in fantasy leagues with elite rushing upside.

The Fantasy Football Fallout

Russell Wilson and Jameis Winston could be on the trade block soon. But both have extra pressure to perform well when they're on the field to avoid being benched for the exciting rookie, which may lead to a safer style of play.

Tyrone Tracy Jr. is an underrated winner of this deal. In trading into the first round, the Giants gave up their second-round selection and one of their third-rounders. That is two fewer opportunities for the Giants to take a day-two running back, which means workhorse Tyrone Tracy is still possible. The Giants' next pick won't be until 65. While a running back at that spot is plausible and could hurt Tracy, it would not be an automatic death sentence like a first-round or early second-round pick would have likely been. So, unless the Giants pull off another trade up for a running back, which is unlikely, Tracy should have life after the NFL Draft.

Overview

Jaxson Dart is a very raw prospect coming out of the draft with much-needed time to develop before starting. The Giants drafting him in the first round and putting him on a team where he could sit behind a veteran and learn should aid in his development. Russell Wilson and Jameis Winston will have to look over their shoulder for the 2025 season, but Tyrone Tracy Jr. may get relief due to the Giants giving up most of their Day 2 picks. They have a single third-rounder left, meaning Tracy could be in line for a workhorse role. But no matter what, he will have a chance to compete for a serious role in the backfield next to a late Day 2 pick.
