Busts on the Philadelphia Eagles

Reasons RB Saquon Barkley Could Be a Bust

Maurile Tremblay: With Philly planning to cut his workload after last season's massive usage, Barkley's high first-round ADP leaves little room for realistic upside at cost.

Colton Dodgson: Barkley is great. That's undeniable. It's also not unfair to be concerned about last year's workload relative to this year's first-round fantasy investment. Both things can be true.

Jeff Blaylock: He had a sensational season, but the adverse effects of high-volume usage are seldom side-stepped. Barkley touched the ball nearly 500 times last season, including the playoffs. The previous three running backs with at least 450 touches averaged 206 fewer fantasy points in the next season.

Ryan Weisse: Barkley should be fine overall and will likely be a top-12 fantasy back. However, the volume he saw in 2024 will take a toll, and I can't see him making the Top 5, let alone finishing as the RB1 again.

David Zacharias: After a staggering load in 2024, it's all downside risk for this superstar.

Jeff Haseley: Unfortunately. Case histories suggest a drop-off in production after such a monumental year. Will last year's heavy volume affect his ability to stay healthy this year? That's the big question.

Julia Papworth: It hurts me to besmirch Saquon, but history suggests the chance of him having another season like 2024 is not that high. I expect regression, and although he should still be an incredible RB1, at his current ADP, drafters won't be happy with the pick unless he blows everyone else out of the water.
