Hi Folks,

We do a ton of insightful, thoughtful, and serious features here at Footballguys with smart people thinking deeply for you.

This is not one of those features.

This is Random Shots, and it's a few pages of me sharing all the random goofiness from this week. With maybe a music note and sometimes a "soap box" wrap at the end.

Here's to Football.

This might be the purest thing you'll see today.

Thanks to Matt Waldman and Matt Carey for that one.

Can you imagine how good this Kansas City team would've been five years ago?

It goes without saying you never cheer an injury. I've been on record here for a long time ragging on Deshaun Watson, but you never ever want to see a player lose their job because they're hurt. We all understand that.

I've also been on record here for years with how much I love Jameis Winston.

He's reportedly getting the start for Cleveland this Sunday.

Let's go.

Patrick Mahomes II with a sweet touchdown run Sunday.

He pulled another "Dad Bod" reference after the game.

"I actually was not trying to lower my shoulder," Mahomes shared. "I was trying to absorb the hit because I was going to be right there in the end zone. But that dad bod, man. Had enough weight on me where he went down."

You may remember this line:

How a player can be one of the most otherworldly athletes in the game but also one of us is maybe my favorite thing about Mahomes.

I'm always interested in a player's public perception compared to how he's seen among his teammates.

By all accounts, Marcus Mariota is a good backup quarterback these days. And when he was a starter, he was not great. Thus, the backup role now.

Derrick Henry, on the other hand, is one of the best players in the league.

Mariota and Henry are not on the same "level" as NFL Players.

But seeing these two catch up after the game, it's clear Derrick Henry thinks Mariota is an all-star friend.

A good reminder to not let job performance define a person.

Ok then.

I'm here for swagged-up Kirk Cousins talking about walking into the trap and taking over the trap.

Poor li'l teasips.

Has someone checked on Matthew McConaughey?

Related:

Masters Champ Scottie Scheffler wearing the green jacket picking against Louisville Saturday was chef's kiss good.

Not surprising he isn't a fan.

No wonder they love this guy.

Southern California's Lincoln Riley took the L in style from the Maryland Terrapins.

Dan Orlovsky's face...

DK Metcalf proving once again if you bring the confidence, you can wear whatever you want.

This one made me laugh out loud.

Not digging the hologram business.

This guy was born to be a Vikings fan.

Do you, like me, sometimes ask yourself the age-old question: "Is a hot dog a sandwich?".

The Cube Rule is an interesting and maybe insane take on the topic...

Let us know what you think. Drop me a message at Bryant@Footballguys.com

Tough weekend for Ohio.

I don't blame players for using the rules to their advantage but it feels like we need to do something about quarterbacks using their protected status while runners. Every defender knows the consequences, and smart players like Mahomes use them to their advantage.

I'm not saying we need to go back to the old way...

But it feels like something needs to change.

It's always that second punch...

Related: That's a pretty bold move from Bryan Cook giving up 100+ pounds to Trent Williams and throwing a punch to the head.

Maybe it was the Sprite talking.

Thanks to Derrick Smith for that one.

DK Metcalf is a full-grown man.

This says a lot in two seconds.

I'd love to get the details on "Open And Active"

Do you care who gets the deal?

Here's another question: How long until NFL uniforms have companies advertising on them, like the NBA and MLB? I'm surprised that hasn't happened already.

It's Halloween season. Here's McSweeneys with "What Your Twelve-Foot Home Depot Skeleton Says About Your Recent Divorce".

Just like we predicted...

Mike Tomlin dropping truth bombs.

Not all kickers are wired the same.

Tampa Bay's Chase McLaughlin supporting his guys.

Thanks to Clayton Gray for that one.

So good.

A better view:

Thanks to Dave Kluge for that one.

Music note this week.

Sufjan Stevens is an all-time favorite. And his "Chicago" holds a personal sweet spot in my heart. Some songs are simple and direct. Like lots of Stevens' songs, this one hits in multiple different ways. The net effect, though, is it just makes me happy. Love this.

I don't care if this makes me sound old. It was a glorious time to be alive.

The number of defensive players who get hurt with the Tennessee tempo offense is fascinating.

I could do a whole column with nothing but NFL Players winning and losing "bets" like this over college games with their teammates.

This week's rankings. Not sure about Moo Deng dropping a tier though.

Dick Butkus was a problem.

I'm pretty sure the "Helmet Of The Year" race is over.

Backstory on how each one was painted by hand.

Thanks to Keith Overton for that one.

If this Russell Wilson thing doesn't work out.

The Oregon mascot, officially known as "The Duck," because I know you folks need to know that kind of thing, with the quick recovery after literally losing its head.

These guys want to play.

Dad of the Year candidate.

I absolutely celebrate.

This one's a classic, but it gets me every time.

Wrapping with this one.

Amari Cooper joined the Bills last week and a few days later found himself in a game with a new offense and new teammates.

He clearly was having some trouble understanding the play or audible in the red zone. He looked over to Keon Coleman for help, and this was the result.

The fun part is we probably have similar opportunities. Who in your circle or workplace is the "new person" and could maybe use a Keon Coleman point in the right direction? I know I've benefitted from people a bit further down the road of life than I am helping me like this. My guess is most all of us have that opportunity.

Rock on.

Thank you for being part of this goofy journey with us.

And thanks to Footballguys Keith Overton, Matt Waldman, Matt Carey, Dave Kluge, and Clayton Gray for the help. If you've got a Random Shot of your own, email me at bryant@footballguys.com.

Thanks for playing along, and I hope you make the most of whatever you're doing in your life. Love your neighbor and stick together.

Peace and Grace to you.
