IDP Dynasty Sleepers: Week 3

Let's take a quick look at a few linebackers, defensive linemen, and defensive backs who are either good grab-and-stash types or those you should target in trades. I hope you enjoy the article and that it opens your eyes to some of the gems on your leagues' waiver wires!

Dynasty Sleeper: LB Baylon Spector, Buffalo

We all know how productive the Buffalo linebackers can be from a fantasy perspective.  Well, with Terrel Bernard perhaps shelved for a few weeks, Baylon Spector will "wear the green dot" and should lead the Bill defense in tackles.  He looked good filling in for Bernard this past week, totaling 10 tackles.  Dorian Williams will also see a spike in production but is likely already rostered.  Temper your expectations, though, as Bernard's injury isn't season-ending, although he will miss multiple weeks with a pec strain.

Dynasty Sleeper: LB Jamien Sherwood, NY Jets

Another AFC East team that typically has productive linebackers is the New York Jets.  And, like Buffalo, they may be without their top producer for a week or so.  C.J. Mosely has a bum toe and as a result, Sherwood could be in line for more snaps.  He finished with an impressive 12 tackles (eight solo) after coming in for Mosely last week.  It's a short week for the Jets and they face a New England Patriots team that will run the ball and throw a lot of short dumpoff passes, so Sherwood could be in line for some decent production.

Dynasty Sleeper: LB SirVocea Dennis, Tampa Bay

It's most definitely Dennis, not K.J. Britt, who is the benefactor of Devin White moving on from the Bucs.  Dennis now has 11 solos and seven helpers in two weeks, not to mention a sack to boot.  Sure, Lavonte David is still in town and will rack up numbers himself, but he's no spring chicken and Dennis is just 24.  If he's on your waiver wire, get him now.  He'll be a solid LB2 with LB1 upside in the coming seasons.  

Dynasty Sleeper: DE Patrick Jones II, Minnesota

We all knew that the Vikings would have to replace Danielle Hunter's production somehow, and intially it was Jonathan Greenard that was the leader in the clubhouse.  But after another two-sack performance against the 49ers, Patrick Jones II now has four on the season.  He is not going to be a high-volume tackler, but with the Defensive Line position already paper-thin, you seek out the "big play guys", and it looks like - at least for now - that Jones is hot.  He faces a Texans team that will be harder to produce against, but the following two matchups (GBP and NYJ) should be better.  He's just 25, so a solid add-and-hold if you don't necessarily need a DL starter.

Dynasty Sleeper: DE Will McDonald IV, NY Jets

With Jermaine Johnson out due to an Achilles tear, expect McDonald to see a big-time increase in snaps.  We already really liked McDonald's size/speed profile, and with increased usage this past week, he came through with a trio of sacks and a forced fumble against the Titans.

Dynasty Sleeper: DT Bryan Bresee, New Orleans

Bresee posted a goose egg Week 1, but was dealing with an illness.  He was declared "good to go" against the Cowboys this past Sunday and was impressive (2 solos, 1 forced fumble, 1 sack).  He has a great motor and fits well with what the Saints like doing on defense.  He's just 22 and for those of you in leagues that separate tackles and ends, looks to be a nice stash for your taxi squad.

Dynasty Sleeper: DB Chamarri Conner, Kansas City

Tread carefully here, maybe just add him to your watchlist and don't prioritize as a must-add?  Typically don't like chasing the freak play, and Conner, while listed as a safety on MyFantasyLeague, is technically the Chiefs' nickel back, seeing just over 50% of the defense's total snaps over two weeks.  But even with only 58% of the snaps Week 1, had six solo stops.  And Week 2 he blew up with four solos, a couple of assists, a sack, fumble recovery and defensive touchdown.  That won't happen every week but the Chiefs' nickel corner has been somewhat productive in the past.

Dynasty Sleeper: S Elijah Molden, LA Chargers

With Alohi Gilman sidelined, Molden got the start and looked good.  He finished the Week 2 contest with seven total tackles and an INT.  Not a must-add, but if Gilman continues to miss time, Molden and the Chargers' D do have some nice matchups over the next month or so.

Dynasty Sleeper: CB Benjamin St-Juste, Washington

If you're in a league that breaks apart cornerbacks and safeties, St. Juste is a must-add and weekly play.  The Commanders' secondary is atrocious and St. Juste is going to get tested on a weekly basis, resulting in plenty of tackles (11 solos through two weeks of play) and pass breakup opportunities (three against the G-men last week).
