Welcome to the dynasty trading post, where optimizing strategy, roster construction, format, and player value oscillations are examined weekly with examples and completed dynasty trades.
This week, we'll focus on quarterbacks with changing opportunities plus one of the biggest wide receiver risers through two weeks.
*All trades are Superflex unless stated otherwise*
QB Bryce Young, Carolina
Theme of the Week: Seek Shelter
Young's benching this week opens a buy-and-sell opportunity for the former 1.01 quarterback, who lasted only two games into his second season in Carolina. The trade market for Young was tepid in the offseason but still offering both sides of the market potential this week off the news.
Here are a few key Young trades this week with him as a buy-and-sell valuation and recommendation:
- Buy Young for 3rd
- Buy Young, 3rd for 2nd
- Buy Young for Cam Akers
- Buy Young, 1st for Isiah Pacheco
- Sell Young for Trey Benson
- Sell Young, 2nd for Sam Darnold, Amari Cooper
One key consideration is the end game with Bryce Young. Even if he gets another chance, a much better situation, and is an NFL successful redemption story a la Sam Darnold, Baker Mayfield, or Geno Smith, the upside of Young is likely capped due to his lack of rushing upside. If Young, in the future, is QB15-25 at his best, the incentive to hold beyond exit opportunities now is low.

QB Skylar Thompson, Miami
Theme of the Week: Situation Breeds Opportunity
Tua Tagovailoa's most recent concussion and IR designation paves the way for a sequence of starts for Thompson with the speed weapons of Miami's offense. Thompson beat out Mike White in the offseason for the valuable QB2 role. Exploring Thompson as a sell to the Tagovailoa (or any quarterback-needy team) is the game plan this week.
Here are a few key Thompson trades with him as a sell valuation and recommendation:
- Thompson, 3rd for 2nd
- Thompson for 3rd
Adding to Thompson is the lone option to get to a Round 2 pick by the recent marketplace. Especially if dealing with a potential non-playoff team's draft position, Thompson for a 3rd is palatable if he sits as QB4+ on a quality quarterback depth chart on your roster.
WR Rashid Shaheed, New Orleans
Theme of the Week: Strike While the Iron is Hot
Shaheed has been a big play dynamo in the first two weeks with an unreal 4.69 yards per route run and 25% target per route run combination. While that level of efficiency might wane in future weeks, the positive is the Saints have barely run any passing plays in two blowout wins where their dropbacks have been explosive. Shaheed's routes could easily rise by 50% per game with a more competitive game script or even comeback mode in the second halves. Aim high if exploring a sell of Shaheed as the WR2 role for New Orleans is wide open and a passing game funnel with Chris Olave and Shaheed is brewing this season with minimal WR3 or tight end presence.
Here are a few key Shaheed trades with him as a buy-and-sell valuation and recommendation:
- Buy Shaheed for 2nd
- Sell Shaheed for Brian Robinson Jr
- Sell Shaheed, 2nd for Tank Dell
- Sell Shaheed for Jonathan Mingo, 1st
A future first is possible, plus other more liquid assets like Tank Dell or the lineup option in Brian Robinson Jr. If the market is a contending 2nd or less, hold Shaheed and continue to mix him into a lineup spot. If a 1st is possible, or options like Robinson or Dell, cash out Shaheed without finding out if his routes increase and his efficiency stabilizes to a maintenance level.
