Welcome to the dynasty trading post, where optimizing strategy, roster construction, format, and player value oscillations are examined weekly with examples and completed dynasty trades.
This week, we'll focus on quarterback profiling and rebalancing rosters with surprise running back value.
*All trades are Superflex unless stated otherwise*
Moving On From QB Deshaun Watson, Houston
Theme of the Week: Seek Security
Deshaun Watson has flatly been a disappointment in Cleveland. We are more than two seasons into Watson's time with the Browns and his decision-making, accuracy, and processing are all lagging. There is still a market to exit in Superflex leagues, but the window could be closing. Cleveland has one of the better rosters in the NFL and Jameis Winston is one of the higher-end QB2 options.
Here are a few key Watson trades this week with him as a sell valuation and recommendation:
- Watson, Daniel Johnson, Derrick Henry for Justin Herbert, Bryce Young, Keaton Mitchell
- Watson, 25 1st, 26 2nd, 27 1st for Justin Herbert, Rashee Rice, 27 2nd
- Watson, Jordan Mason for Trevor Lawrence
- Watson, 25 2nd for 27 1st
- Watson and Christian Watson for 25 1st
Getting a future 1st is staying liquid with a Watson sell, even if adding to the Watson side. Paying the additional capital to shift to Justin Herbert is warranted, considering how Watson could continue to mire or fall in market interest. Finally, even if Trevor Lawrence is not your final destination at quarterback, shifting from Watson to Lawrence is a significant step up in future options to continue to upgrade as QB1 or QB2 on a dynasty depth chart.

Acquiring QB Jordan Love, Green Bay
Theme of the Week: Talent Acquisition Through Injury
A quality profile getting injured is an ideal time to explore buying for a macro gain. Love is projected to miss time, and over the next week or two, their dynasty team might be falling out of the playoff race or looking to band-aid the position with current production.
Here are a few key Love trades with him as a buy valuation and recommendation:
- Love for Tony Pollard, Jameson Williams, 2026 1st
- Love, Kenneth Walker for Caleb Williams, J.K. Dobbins, Khalil Shakir
- Love for 2025 1st, 2025 1st
- Love for Saquon Barkley
Even if rolling with a poor QB2 in the near term, make the sacrifice to secure Love for the later part of the season and beyond. It can be difficult to acquire a quality quarterback in Superflex without giving one in the trade, but three of these are picks or non-quarterbacks alone.
Getting Value from RB Jordan Mason, San Francisco
Theme of the Week: Strike While the Iron is Hot
Mason enjoyed a breakout performance (on 100% rushing share and 70% route share) with Christian McCaffrey a late scratch in Week 1. Mason is projected to start in Week 2 and TBD on future starts and the status of McCaffrey. Mason is found money with additional starts but is pulling quality returns in the trade market. With running backs largely healthy across the NFL, many dynasty teams have Mason as a lineup option luxury, not a necessity. As a result, Mason is a golden opportunity to address other positions or turn into liquid draft capital for future trade considerations.
Here are a few key Mason trades with him as a sell valuation and recommendation:
- Mason for Jake Ferguson (1.5 PPR for TE)
- Mason, 2026 2nd for 2027 1st
- Mason for Zamir White, George Kittle (1.75 PPR for TE)
- Mason for 2025 1st
- Mason for Deebo Samuel Sr.
A future first is possible, but be prepared to add a future second. Pivoting to another position is another strategy here, especially profiles like Jake Ferguson or George Kittle, perhaps consolidating to Mark Andrews with a lesser tight end and Mason. Selling for a future second is the minimum return, but target a quality injury-away running back as well in the package. Some suggestions include Tyjae Spears, Antonio Gibson, Zach Charbonnet, Tyler Allgeier, and Ty Chandler.
