The season is now in full swing and the news and injuries are increasing. In today’s  “Dynasty News,” we will examine some of the larger happenings of the week from a dynasty perspective.

Dynasty News: Tua Tagovailoa, Miami

On Tuesday,  Mike Garafolo tweeted, “Sources to me and @RapSheet: The #Dolphins are placing QB Tua Tagovailoa on injured reserve in order to give him ample time to progress through the stages of concussion protocol and meet with outside neurologists. The earliest Tagovailoa could return is Week 8 against the #AZCardinals, but the Dolphins are committed to placing no timeline on him as he works through a deliberate process and eventual return to play.” After the loss at Seattle, the Dolphins have three winnable games on the schedule for quarterback Skylar Thompson: home versus Tennessee, at New England, and Indianapolis, including a Week 6 bye. The team will not rush Tagovailoa back. He is in the concussion protocol and may not play until November or even ever. We just want him to have a healthy life post-football. The team signed Tyler Huntley to join the quarterback mix. Signing the athletic Huntley over ex-Dolphin Mike White signals that the team knows it needs mobility at the quarterback position with the way the offensive line is playing. None of these backups are worth pursuing unless in the deepest of dynasty leagues.

Dynasty News: Justin Herbert, LA Chargers

Herbert had an ankle sprain entering Week 3, but reinjured the ankle in the loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers. Monday morning, Ian Rapoport tweeted, “#Chargers QB Justin Herbert, who aggravated his high-ankle sprain against the #Steelers and exited the game, had X-rays that were negative after the game, source said. He'll continue to be monitored this week.” The good news is that the X-rays were negative. With the team’s bye coming up in Week 5, we expect Los Angeles to hold their star passer out this week and allow him time to recover. The run-oriented Harbaugh offense has stifled fantasy upside, but Herbert has executed at a high level this season.

Dynasty News: Isiah Pacheco, Kansas City

Last week, reporters asked Kansas City head coach Andy Reid about the potential timing of Isiah Pacheco’s return. Reid said that the team would soon make an evaluation on the timeline. Reid said, “I can’t give you a time when he’ll return … We’ll just see if it’s this season or next season.” While many hypothesized that Pacheco could return in a couple of months, Reid opened the door that his star back might not make it back this season. Even though he did not play Sunday against Atlanta, we expect Kareem Hunt to get the majority of early-down work - with Carson Steele worked into the mix - and Samaje Perine getting the passing-down work. Hunt was not needed against the Falcons and will be brought along slowly. Reid told reporters that Hunt was not “ready yet” so we expect him to play in Week 4 and be worked up to speed. As Jerick McKinnon showed last year, Perine will have some huge fantasy games. This situation might be a large enigma for dynasty managers. But, the best dynasty play might be to acquire Pacheco while he is on the shelf.

Dynasty News: MarShawn Lloyd, Green Bay

Last week, the Green Bay Packers placed MarShawn Lloyd on injured reserve with a hamstring injury. Lloyd has been trying to recover from the injury that shelved him for most of the preseason. He makes the second back that has landed on injured reserve, with A.J. Dillon the other.  Emanuel Wilson will back up Josh Jacobs. Chris Brooks is a player to monitor as he was signed to the active roster. Expect a large workload for Jacobs. Dynasty managers should be worried about Jacobs’ large workload as he had over 1,300 rushing attempts coming into the season. The Packers will want to support quarterback Jordan Love with a strong running game as he returns to full health so Wilson makes a solid dynasty stash.

Dynasty News: Jaylen Warren, Pittsburgh

After the victory over the Chargers, coach Mike Tomlin was asked why running back Jaylen Warren did not play more in the contest. Tomlin said that Warren was not  “running smoothly” so he was pulled from the game. The coach indicated that the team would evaluate Warren medically to find the root cause of the injury. The new Steelers offense has relied more on Najee Harris than Warren. Tomlin is winning with a conservative ground game and will continue to do so until it is taken away. Dynasty managers are disappointed with all of the skill position players, and this is unlikely to change anytime soon.

Dynasty News: Justice Hill, Baltimore

Last Friday, Ian Rapoport broke the news of Justice Hill earning a contract extension, “Sources: The #Ravens and RB Justice Hill have agreed to terms on a 2-year, $6M contract extension. A nice deal for an underrated core player for them in his sixth year.” Hill is a great complement to star Derrick Henry as he excels as a receiver and blocker. Keaton Mitchell is still returning from injury and may not be back to full speed this season.

Dynasty News: Adam Thielen, Carolina

Panthers receiver Adam Thielen exited the Week 3 victory against the Raiders with a hamstring injury. He did not play in the second half of the game, so there is doubt that he will return in the next couple of weeks. Thielen was injured in the first half on a 31-yard touchdown reception. He walked to the locker room under his own power but never returned to the field. The quarterback change did wonders for the Carolina receivers’ fantasy upside. If Thielen misses extended action, rookie Xavier Legette should be heavily involved in the offense. Hamstring injuries tend to linger, and Thielen was placed on injured reserve Tuesday. Legette looked good and seemed to gain confidence as the game progressed. He will see extended action.

Dynasty News: Erick All Jr., Cincinnati

Late last week, Cincinnati Bengals head coach Zac Taylor talked up rookie tight end Erick Ali Jr. to reporters. He said, “You can put a lot on his plate. We certainly like what we see.” The strong play of veteran Mike Gesicki gives dynasty managers a golden opportunity to acquire Ali at a reasonable price. The Bengals are an offense that will throw often enough to support many fantasy options, including tight end as Gesicki has shown this season. Gesicki signed a one-year deal (for a mere $2.5 million) this past offseason.

Dynasty News: Brevin Jordan, Houston

With the injury history of Houston tight end Dalton Schultz, there were rumblings that Brevin Jordan was poised to emerge as another option in the prolific offense. Ace beat reporter Aaron Wilson was the first to report that Jordan suffered a torn Anterior Cruciate Ligament. This injury necessitates a trip to injured reserve as Jordan rehabs for the next 8-10 months. The Texans now only have rookie Cade Stover and the newly-signed Irv Smith, Jr. behind Schultz. Dynasty managers can feel better about Schultz, who is a low-level fantasy starter when healthy, as there is little competition for his snaps.

Dynasty News: Washington TEs

Washington has an interesting mix of old (Zach Ertz) and new (Ben Sinnott) at the tight-end position. Ertz signed with the Commanders to reunite with offensive coordinator Kliff Kingsbury. When asked about his tight ends, Kingsbury told reporters, “Zach [Ertz] is the savvy veteran in the pass game that continues to get open, continues to present to a young quarterback … I think Ben [Sinnott]’s the one who’s gonna continue to really come on, and we’re gonna expand his role as the season goes on and the game slows down for him.” This has not been an offense that has done a good job getting the ball to its playmakers this season, so expectations should be tempered for these two tight ends this season. Quarterback Jayden Daniels has not excelled in the pocket as a passer, and it has taken a toll on the respective dynasty outlooks of Ertz, Sinnott, and Terry McLaurin. If you are a believer in Sinnott’s talent, he makes a great dynasty buy.
