As we race toward August, Footballguys.com will look at one team per weekday with our quick-hitting Team Busts feature, where we check out the players we think will disappoint this year.
Go Deeper: See in-depth projections for every Jets player here >>>
This is a weekday series that will stretch through July 30. If you like this and want another, come back the next workday. Another will be here.
Busts We Are Avoiding on the Jets
We asked the Footballguys staff to identify a player they're uncomfortable drafting at their current price.
- QB Aaron Rodgers - 3 votes
- No One - 3 votes
- WR Mike Williams - 2 votes
- CB Sauce Gardner - 1 vote
- RB Breece Hall - 1 vote
Reasons Aaron Rodgers Could Be a Bust
- Jeff Haseley: Aaron Rodgers may struggle due to his limited yardage and touchdown numbers. He hasn't thrown for 300 yards since Week 14 of 2021, and he had only one game with three touchdown passes in 2022. If he falters, he could be a disappointment.
- Andy Hicks: Rodgers will be 41 this year. Name a quarterback who looked good at that age, not named Tom Brady.
- Hutchinson Brown: He’s not a terrible pick at cost, but the upside seems low. The Jets play fantastic defense and will run the ball plenty with Breece Hall and Braelon Allen. Rodgers would have to be hyper-efficient to get any upside in fantasy, and considering his current health and age, that seems unlikely.
Reasons No One Could Be a Bust
- Phil Alexander: If Aaron Rodgers has a vintage season, every Jets player is undervalued -- even consensus first-round picks on Underdog, Breece Hall and Garrett Wilson. Every other Jets player has a negligible ADP.
- Ryan Weisse: Everybody is priced reasonably, assuming Rodgers' health. I would add that Garrett Wilson is awfully pricey for a WR that hasn't finished better than WR21 yet.
Reasons Mike Williams Could Be a Bust
- Ben Cummins: Williams changed teams, will turn 30 during the season, and is coming off of an ACL tear.
- Bob Harris: Williams will turn 30 during his first season with the Jets, one in which he's returning from a torn ACL. His price (WR55) isn't unreasonable, but I'm looking for others in that range.
Reasons Sauce Gardner Could Be a Bust
Kyle Bellefeuil: According to PFF, Gardner was targeted 51 times last season, 22 fewer than his rookie campaign. He’s a lock-down corner whom teams look to avoid, limiting his opportunities.
Reasons Breece Hall Could Be a Bust
Matt Bitonti: The team drafted two young backs to manage Hall's workload.
