As we race toward August, Footballguys.com will look at one team per weekday with our quick-hitting Team Busts feature, where we check out the players we think will disappoint this year.
Go Deeper: See in-depth projections for every Lions player here >>>
This is a weekday series that will stretch through July 30. If you like this and want another, come back the next workday. Another will be here.
Busts We Are Avoiding on the Colts
We asked the Footballguys staff to identify a player they're uncomfortable drafting at their current price.
- QB Anthony Richardson - 5 votes
- WR Adonai Mitchell - 4 votes
- EDGE Laiatu Latu - 2 votes
- WR Michael Pittman Jr - 2 votes
- Any Tight End - 1 vote
Reasons Anthony Richardson Could Be a Bust
- Jason Wood: He's only slightly overvalued if he can stay healthy but QB is such a deep position this year that you're better off waiting a few more rounds and grabbing a skill position player where others are targeting Richardson.
- Jeff Haseley: I'm not convinced that Richardson will be a bust, but his acquisition cost already accounts for high expectations. While he can deliver impressive rushing numbers as a quarterback, we can't be certain whether he'll be an effective and productive passer.
- Phil Alexander: Richardson can easily make me eat this fade, but part of his appeal last season was a QB16 ADP. Now that he goes in Round 5, I'd rather wait 50 picks and scoop Jayden Daniels, who should approximate Richardson's passing and rushing stats.
- Andy Hicks: Richardson can exceed his ADP, but his downside is much worse. Finishing games will be a good start. Until he respects his body and the opposing defenses, other options are more attractive.
- Nick Whalen: Richardson has started only 17 games in the last four seasons, but he's priced near his ceiling which is risky for a small sample size.
