If you like this format, come back for another Question of the Day. Today, we take a look at an elite producer at the wide receiver position. Over the last three seasons, Davante Adams has finished 1st, 2nd, and 3rd among wide receivers in PPR scoring. However, his average draft position for 2023 is WR8.
Here's the question we asked our staff.
Where do you have him ranked among wide receivers? Why?
And here's the quick answer for each player's ranking:
- Highest rank for Adams - WR6
- Average rank for Adams - WR8.6
- Lowest rank for Adams - WR11
Davante Adams is still a starting wide receiver for everyone, but those rankings are a far cry from the top-three finishes we are used to seeing from him.
Check out the full answers below for the reasons why.
Jason Wood: Davante Adams is currently WR9 in my 0.5 PPR rankings, so I'm one spot below consensus but in the same tier. As you note, Adams answered the skeptics who questioned his ability to sustain elite production on a new team with a new quarterback, but can he do it again? Jimmy Garoppolo takes over for Derek Carr, and that resurfaces the same questions. How will the Raiders system change with Garoppolo under center? And with the roster construction and Josh Jacobs holding out, will the offense sustain productivity? I'm not all the way out on Adams because his pedigree is nearly unmatched among current NFL receivers, but he's far more enticing as your WR2, so you won't be behind the 8-ball if the 2023 Raiders are a moribund group.
