Week 7 had many teams on a bye, leaving streaming options thin, though necessary. Unfortunately, all but one of our streaming options (Joe Tryon-Shoyinka) were all misses. Let's forget about Week 7, shall we? Moving on to Week 8, no teams are on a bye. This gives us some great options to stream and also some great matchups. Here are the top IDL and Edge streaming options for Week 8.
IDL and Edge Streaming Options
Edge, Jermaine Johnson II, New York Jets
Matchup: New York Giants - Ranked 28th in Matt Bitonti's Offensive Line Rankings
It is the battle of the Big Apple this weekend. Though his name still has not hit mainstream IDP, it will soon, possibly starting this weekend. The Jets have shuffled their Edge defenders this season, except for Johnson. He has been a constant, playing 64% of the team's defensive snaps. His stout and powerful run defense keeps him on the field for early downs, and his pass rushing has picked up recently, with nine pressures over the past two games.
Johnson gets the Giants in Week 8. The Giants have allowed the second-most sacks in the league with 37. With the Giants' propensity to be run-heavy and their inability to protect their quarterback, Johnson could have a big week.
Edge, Khalil Mack, Los Angeles Chargers
Matchup: Chicago Bears - Ranked 27th in Matt Bitonti's Offensive Line Rankings
Mack is the epitome of boom or bust. He has seven sacks in two games and zero in the other four. He has consistently provided pressure, though, with 28 pressures on the season. Sure, Mack is a shell of himself, but even a shell can provide massive games like his jaw-dropping six-sack game in Week 4. He is a worthy start in good matchups.
Speaking of good matchups, the Chargers take on the Bears' abysmal offensive line. They have allowed 27 sacks on the season, bad enough for third-most. With the Bears likely starting a rookie quarterback again, Mack could blow up in Week 8.
IDL, Calais Campbell, Atlanta Falcons
Matchup: Tennessee Titans - Ranked 32nd in Matt Bitonti's Offensive Line Rankings
Campbell is the ageless wonder when it comes to defensive linemen. We have been waiting for his decline for a few years now, and though he is not the player he was in his prime, Campbell continues to impress wherever he lands. This year, it is with the Falcons where he has quickly taken on the role of top interior defensive lineman. He has commanded a 63% snap share on the season.
Campbell has been a wrecking ball over his last two contests, racking up eight tackles, two sacks, and a forced fumble. He faces off with one of the worst, if not the worst, offensive lines in the NFL, the Tennessee Titans. The Titans have given up the fourth most sacks in the NFL, with 23 allowed, and their run defense has been just as atrocious. Campbell has the opportunity to eat in Week 8.
IDL, Jordan Davis, Philadelphia Eagles
Matchup: Washington Commanders - Ranked 31st in Matt Bitonti's Offensive Line Rankings
This week is a great week to stream any Eagles defensive lineman. They are playing the Commanders, who have given up the most sacks in the NFL with 40 allowed. Their offensive line just gets crushed weekly. Dexter Lawrence of the Giants just pummeled the Commanders on the interior with six tackles and two sacks in Week 7. Unfortunately, they are tasked with facing one of the best pass rushes they have faced all season.
Davis has quietly been a productive pass rusher recently, coming very close to having strong weeks. He has come up with half-of-a-sack in consecutive games and should be able to hit home in Week 8.
