The Guru's Notepad IDP Info, Notes from Week 16

As I watch games from Thursday through Monday Night Football, I take notes on the things that catch my eye. From injuries to unexpected box score production both good and bad, to scheme quirks and situations that could affect a player’s production in weeks to come. By Wednesday evening I turn these notes and the subsequent news and investigation into the Eyes of the Guru column.

On Monday mornings, I will be sharing those raw notes. There will not be a lot of analysis or in-depth description. Those things take time and will come later in the week. The goal is to give our customers an early heads up on things that could impact your important decisions for the week, so if something in the notes is particularly important to your team, you can look into it on your own and/or wait until the EOTG comes out that week to get my take.

These are the notes from week 16.

Arizona Cardinals

• Krys Barnes 6-3 99%. Owen Pappoe 50%
• Budda Baker 7-3, Jalen Thompson 4-1 int 3PD, Starling Thomas V 7-1

Atlanta Falcons

• Richie Grant 4-1-1 FF on 27 plays. Maybe the Falcons should limit him to less than 40% of the snaps every week.
• DeMarcco Hellams 5-2 on 68 of a possible 71 snaps.

Baltimore Ravens

• Kyle Hamilton 3-2 2 int before leaving with a knee injury

Buffalo Bills

• Terrel Bernard non-contact injury. Returned in the second half
• Taylor Rapp 13-4 in the last two games as an injury replacement.

Carolina Panthers

• Nothing of note

Chicago Bears

• Nothing of note

Cincinnati Bengals

• Zach Carter moved into the starting spot in place of D.J. Reader Jr.

Cleveland Browns

• D'Anthony Bell 6-0 FF 2PD 71% participation in a three-man rotation at safety. Ronnie Hickman 73%, Duron Harmon 53%

Dallas Cowboys

• Donovan Wilson 8-4, Markquese Bell 6-2, Damone Clark 5-2

Denver Broncos

• Kareem Jackson was reinstated, but P.J. Locke got the start at safety

Detroit Lions

• Ifeatu Melifonwu with another big game 5-0-2 Int/2PD
• Slow day for the linebackers. Jack Campbell 85%
• Josh Paschal hand injury

Green Bay Packers

• Anthony Johnson 6-2 100% Rudy Ford benched 7 snaps

Houston Texans

• Jonathan Greenard ankle 3 plays. Will Anderson Jr. was inactive. Myjai Sanders 4-1, Derek Barnett 2-1 PD 2TFL, and Jerry Hughes 3-2-1, were the rotation
• Steven Nelson foot
• Jalen Pitre was benched after 19 snaps. Adrian Amos 3-1 on 72%

Indianapolis Colts

• Julian Blackmon injured shoulder. Nick Cross replaced him 4-0

Jacksonville Jaguars

• Andre Cisco played but only about half of the snaps. Antonio Johnson split time with Andrew Wingard as the third safety.

Kansas City Chiefs

• Mike Edwards missed some time with a knee but returned in the second half.
• L'Jarius Sneed 3-0 because the Raiders wouldn’t throw to Davante Adams, or anyone else for that matter. Las Vegas completed 9 passes for 62 yards

Las Vegas Raiders

• Dynasty alert on Malcolm Koonce 5-1-3 vs KC, 21-4-7 over last seven games

Los Angeles Chargers

• Nothing of note

Los Angeles Rams

• Quentin Lake 5-2 PD working in the slot role 75%, John Johnson III led the team in tackles from the strong safety position 5-3 100%.
• Ernest Jones saved his modest tackle totals with a sack and 2 pass breakup 4-3-1

Miami Dolphins

• Jevon Holland is still on the mend, Brandon Jones 7-2 FR

Minnesota Vikings

• Jordan Hicks 6-3 PD 100%, was active back in the lead role. Ivan Pace Jr 3-0 FR 30 of 79 snaps.
• D.J. Wonnum torn quad. Patrick Jones II

New England Patriots

• Christian Barmore is on a roll 5-3-3 FF vs Den, 5.5 sacks since the week 11 bye with at least half in four of five games.

New Orleans Saints

• Paulson Adebo with a big night 9-1 PD
• Carl Granderson overcame the tough matchup to go 3-5-1
• Jordan Howden 2-4, Demario Davis 2-4, Pete Werner 2-3 W/2TFL. All disappointing

New York Giants

• Nothing of note

New York Jets

• What happened to the Jets LBs in the first half?

Philadelphia Eagles

• Shaquille Leonard with a solid game 5-2-1. Ben VanSumeren was the other linebacker 2-4

Pittsburgh Steelers

• Patrick Peterson played free safety, Eric Rowe strong 3-4 int
• Elandon Roberts torn pectoral. Myles Jack into the game 3-3-1

Seattle Seahawks

• Jordyn Brooks helped off the field ankle. Devin Bush 5-1
• Boye Mafe finally shows up again 5-1-2

San Francisco 49ers

• How does a player (Dre Greenlaw) end up with 2 tackles and 10 assists? The NFL needs to standardize IDP statistics.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers

• Devin White not only played, he looked like the old Devin White at times 2-2-.5 int 2PD on 95%
• Carlton Davis III down early in the second, groin?

Tennessee Titans

• Nothing of note

Washington Commanders

• Percy Butler 3-3 wrist, Jartavius Martin 4-2, Terrell Burgess 4-0, Kamren Curl 3-1 PD
• Cody Barton 7-3 int, Khaleke Hudson 10-5 2PD
