The Dynasty Trading Post: Most Traded Running Backs

Chad Parsons's The Dynasty Trading Post: Most Traded Running Backs Chad Parsons Published 11/08/2023

Welcome to the dynasty trading post, where optimizing strategy, roster construction, format, and player value oscillations are examined weekly in example and completed dynasty trades.

This week, we will analyze Gus Edwards and Derrick Henry, two of the most traded players this week in the dynasty market.

*All trades are Superflex unless stated otherwise*

RB Gus Edwards, Baltimore Ravens

Theme of the Week: Usage Analysis

Gus Edwards enjoyed his third straight game of 15+ PPR points in Week 9, the rare stat line of 5-52-2 rushing in Baltimore's blowout win. Over the three games, Edwards has six rushing touchdowns, plus an 80-yard reception among his sparse three targets. Edwards' last three games have easily been his best of the season. Edwards is averaging just 32% of team routes on the season, with Justice Hill largely inhabiting the passing role (if there is one for Baltimore) and Keaton Mitchell seeing action in just his second game of the season, surging to multiple highlight runs and 22% of the rushing market share. This is on a Baltimore offense that is 28th in HLO (High-Leverage Opportunity Score for running backs) on the season and 29th in targets. In short, Edwards is a touchdown-or-bust fantasy player who has been on the proverbial touchdown 'heater' over the past three games.

Here are a few key Edwards trades this week as a sell exploration:

The theme is mainly to add to Edwards for a consolidation trade of assets. Even if you are not the biggest fan of Jerry Jeudy, for example, Jeudy is an asset far more liquid to cascade to another dynasty trade this season or in the offseason. Ridley is shown as both a buy and sell inclusion in a pair of deals to highlight being on both sides of a market depending on the deal. Adding to Edwards to get a 24 1st is an ideal outcome, with even a future 2nd straight up a quality exit.
