Welcome to Week 13 of the 2022 Footballguys Roundtable. Our intrepid panel of fantasy pundits discusses and debates four topics every week. Topics are now split into separate features.
This week's roundtable features these four topics:
- December Fantasy Darlings (see below)
- Jets Fantasy Prospects
- One-Year Wonders
- The Replacements
December Darlings
Waldman: Pick three players from the list that you believe have the best chance of performing in the second or third spot in a typical starting lineup in PPR fantasy leagues (1-2 QBs, 2-3 RBs, 3-4 WRs, 1-2 TEs) for the month of December.
- Derek Carr
- Mac Jones
- Samaje Perine
- Jamaal Williams
- Christian Watson
- Treylon Burks
- Jordan Akins
- Jelani Woods
The candidates are all performing as top-12 starters for the past two weeks.
Gary Davenport: Carr's stretch-run matchups don't exactly inspire cartwheels, but the best thing he has going for him may well be the Vegas defense. As we've seen all season long, it's not especially good—and that ramps up the pressure on Carr and the offense to post a big score. This week's meeting with the Chargers has more than a little shootout potential.
D'Andre Swift's role in the Detroit offense appears to be growing, and Williams is about as electrifying as a joy buzzer. But it's hard to argue with 13 rushing touchdowns (which matches his career total entering 2022). If the Lions get the ball inside the five-yard line, Williams is going to get the ball—he has a touchdown in seven of 11 games so far this season.
Over the past three weeks, Watson has more PPR points than every wide receiver not named Davante Adams. He has two 100-yard games and a whopping six touchdown passes over that span. And when Jordan Love entered the game last week, he didn't shy from throwing in the big rookie's direction. This year's rookie receiver class is just ridiculous—and Watson is staking his claim as one of the best of the lot.
Joseph Haggan: Carr has performed admirably over the past four weeks. During that span, he has a 9:2 touchdown to interception ratio while averaging 277.25 passing yards per game. His quarterback rating has been 99.2 or better over the same stretch. His remaining matchups have shootout potential and Carr could have a strong finish to the season.
