New England, Team Mood

  • Good - 2
  • Neutral - 7
  • Bad - 2

Staffers in a Good Mood

  • Ben Cummins: The Patriots offense ranked ninth in DVOA last year, and Mac Jones is about to take a major step forward in year two.
  • Dave Kluge: Mac Jones exceeded expectations as a rookie. Although no huge moves were made this offseason, another year in New England should help his development.

Staffers in a Neutral Mood

  • Jason Wood: Not much changed in the offseason other than Josh McDaniels leaving, which may or may not be seismic.
  • Chad Parsons: Mac Jones is capable enough of running an NFL offense. Questioning the ceiling is valid, but the floor is decent.
  • Kevin Coleman: Josh McDaniels will be tough to replace, and the Patriots seem to be going through a scheme change on offense.
  • Jeff Haseley: The Patriots are on the verge of big things in a packed division and conference. They'll have to be great to make the playoffs.
  • Andy Hicks: Losing Josh McDaniels is key, especially for a second-year quarterback. The development of Mac Jones determines everything here.
  • Jeff Bell: Faith they will utilize personnel effectively, borderline impossible to project who for fantasy, especially in the passing game.
  • Ryan Weisse: They lost McDaniels and are choosing not to replace him. We should see improvement with Mac Jones, but the coaching change could slow that down.
  • Sam Wagman: The coordinator issues are worrisome, particularly when you consider the options. Mac Jones is dependable, though.

Staffers in a Bad Mood

  • Christian Williams: Losing McDaniels and having a coordinator competition to determine who calls plays will be tough, no matter the personnel.
  • Alfredo Brown: The loss of Josh McDaniels could be big. The idea of Joe Judge or Matt Patricia calling plays is terrifying.
